Vels University has conferred Chef P Soundararajan with Honoris Causa Award (Degree of Doctor of Literature) for his contribution towards hospitality, and in particular culinary industry. The award was presented by APJ Abdul Kalam, Former President of India on 14th December 2011 on behalf of the Chancellor and Members of the Board of Vels University. Chef P. Soundararajan serves as Corporate Executive Chef of Mahindra Holidays and Resorts India Ltd and is currently is the General Secretary of Indian Federation of Culinary Associations (IFCA). He has been instrumental in founding South Indian Culinary Association (SICA), and eventually IFCA in India. Chef P Soundararajan has served as a member of the World Association of Chef Societies (WACS) education committee. He represented IFCA at the International World Culinary Congress and obtained membership for IFCA in the WACS Board at the 31st World Congress held at Ireland, Dublin. He has received the Golden Hat Award (2004) and SICA Golden Star Chef Award (2008) from the South India Culinary Association for two decades of continuous contribution to the profession. ...
